Because you don't need Honey Bunches of Oats to have a good breakfast.

Sometimes to make the perfect recipe, you need to smash two almost perfect things together. In this case, those two things were Alison Roman's recipe for decidedly-not-sweet granola and my Mammaw's recipe for the sweetest granola you ever put in your mouth. Lucky for you, they had a baby, and it's just right. Not to mention healthy, which is a good thing, because we're kicking off #gograyinmay with TakeTHATTumor


3 cups of oats
1/4 cup of honey
1/3 cup of olive oil
1 cup of unsweetened dried coconut
1 cup of raisins
1/4 cup of sesame seeds
3/4 cup of pepitas
1 tsp of vanilla


  1. Preheat oven to 300. Get a sheet pan and a big bowl ready. And get yourself ready. This one's a doozy.

  2. Pour all of the ingredients into the large bowl. Stir.

  3. Pour the granola mix onto the sheet pan.

  4. Bake for 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to nothing burns.

  5. I told you, super doozy. WOW.
